GATE

Gifted And Talented Education (GATE):  Students with exceptional ability and academic achievement may be identified for the GATE program. In order for a student to qualify for GATE they take the OLSAT (Otis Lennon School Ability Test) which measures the cognitive skills that relate to a student’s ability to learn and succeed in school and examines both verbal and nonverbal abilities. Programs for gifted and talented students may include part-time groupings and cluster groupings which shall be planned and organized as an integrated, differentiated learning experience within the regular school day.  Parents, the student, and the teacher will meet to develop a differentiated learning plan (D.L.P.) {Reference: Administrative Regulation 6172}
